LOTUS CC:MAIL FOR THE INTERNET RELEASE 1
WITH AS/400 CLIENT ACCESS FOR WINDOWS 95 R311
***** This is a continuation of II10007. Updated 2/05/97 ****

   3. Code page conversions

    a. No conversion

Select this option if you want the text portions of E-
mail to be sent exactly as they were entered on the PC
with no conversions. Similarly, the text portions of
E-mail messages will be stored without any code page
      conversions.

Warning: This option should only be selected when the
code page on your workstation is not otherwise
supported by this product AND your E-mail is limited to
other workstations running the same code page that your
PC is using. Mail exchange with OfficeVision may not be
possible when this option is selected.

    b. Automatic Conversion

Select automatic conversion to have the character set
automatically selected based on the language version of
the operating system on your workstation. This is the
      default.

    c. Force conversion to selected code page

Select this option to force conversions of the text
portions of E-mail message you sent to the selected
      character set.

       1. Select a code page for all text

Select the code page to use with the force
conversion option. This option is only available
when the Force conversion option is selected. All
text portions of an E-mail message will be converted
to the selected code page just before the message is
sent. All E-mail messages are formatted to conform
to the MIME standard just before they are sent. The
selection list contains only code pages that are
         supported by the MIME standard.

   4. Display Internet message headers as attachments.

Check this box to display Internet message headers. The
Internet message headers will be displayed as a separate
     attachment.

 Workarounds to Known Problems
 =============================

The README.TXT identifies a complete list of workarounds to
known cc:Mail for Internet problems. The following
information is specific to cc:Mail for Internet clients
 using Client Access.

'Unable to logon to mail server (6,12) Server refused
  ----------------------------------------------------
  connection (8,0)'.
  ------------------
If you migrated to Client Access for Windows 95 R311 from
R310 and are SNA connected, QPOPSRVR mode description may
  not have been created.
  - Run the netsoft administrator utility in the Client Access,
    Netsoft folder.
  - Right click on the NS/Router AS/400 icon and select
    properties.
  - Select the "Common" tab, then select "Advanced Properties".
  - The "Modes" tab will be displayed.
  - Verify that an entry of QPOPSRVR exists with Max RU 1024,
Min RU 256, Rx Pacing Limit 7, Session limit 32.
If it does not exist or is incorrect select use the
"Add" or "Properties" buttons to correct the problem.
NOTE: You must disconnect and shutdown the netsoft
connection to make changes to the configuration.
  - Click OK to save the changes.
 'Internet AutoDial' Window
 --------------------------

If an 'Internet AutoDial' window is displayed when you start
the cc:Mail for the Internet application, check the box
marked "Don't use Internet AutoDial". This window will now
no longer be displayed when you start cc:Mail for the
 Internet.

Using cc:Mail with an Internet Service Provider (ISP)
 connection
 ------------------------------------------------------------
The version of cc:Mail shipped with Client Access can only
be used with Client Access. The license agreement states:
"This License allows the use of this cc:Mail program on PC
running a client of the IBM AS/400 Client Access Family and
connected to an AS/400 with a license for IBM AS/400 Client
 Access Family product (5763-XA1, 5716-XA1, or 5649-EP1) or a
 replacement product. "

Configuring SMTP address information in the system directory
 -----------------------------------------------------------

The default behavior of the AS/400 is to store SMTP address
information separate from the system distribution directory.
You can use the command WRKNAMSMTP option 1 or use the Work
Directory Entries (WRKDIRE) command. When using the WRKDIRE
command, select option 1 (ADD) or option 2 (CHANGE) and then
press F19 - Change name for SMTP to access SMTP address
information. See the TCP/IP Configuration and Reference,
 SC41-3420, for further information.

 XPPOP.LOG Icon on the Desktop
 -----------------------------

When you initially start the cc:Mail for the Internet
application a XPPOP.LOG icon will be created on your
Desktop. This icon can be deleted but will again be created
each time you start the cc:Mail for the Internet
application. To prevent the creation of this icon:

  - Right-click on the Desktop 'cc:Mail for the Internet icon.
  - Click on Properties.
  - Click the Shortcut tab.
  - In the 'Start in:' field type the directory path you see
    listed in the 'Target:' field.

For example, if your 'Target' field looks like this:
c: lotus ccMaili32 WMAIL32.EXE. Then type the following
c: lotus ccMaili32 WMAIL32.EXE. Then type the following into
the 'Start in:' field: c: lotus ccMaili32 .

Using cc:Mail R7 (and other mail products) with the AS/400
-----------------------------------------------------------

cc:Mail release 7 includes support of MAPI service providers
in addition to the cc:Mail post office. In theory, this
version of cc:Mail should be able to access the AS/400 POP3
post office via the Client Access MAPI driver or any other
POP3 provider such as Microsoft Internet Provider. This
configuration has not been tested and is not supported.

Earlier versions of cc:Mail could not directly access MAPI
service providers. These versions cannot access the AS/400
via the POP3 interface.

cc:Mail for the Internet Release 1.0 and cc:Mail Release 7.0
can not be installed on the same PC. If you accidentally
installed both products on the same PC you will need to
remove both of them and reinstall the desired product.

Reply-to function does not work correctly
-----------------------------------------
The reply-to function will fail to deliver mail under certain
conditions. The problem is typically seen on systems with
cc:Mail users configured for a "SNA" (or 802.2) connection
such as twinax, netsoft router, Novell SAA, etc.

Users effected:
 - All users running cc:Mail clients connected to an AS/400
that does not have SMTP configured and active.

 - Any user with system directory entry of:
Message Service Level 2=System message store
      Preferred Address 1=User ID/Address
that does not have a name defined in the SMTP system alias
table and wishes to receive replies from an OV/400 user.

Problem symptoms:
 - When a message is sent from a POP3 user to an
OfficeVision/400 user on the same AS/400 and the
OfficeVision/400 user attempts to reply to the message the
OfficeVision/400 user receives the following message:
   User *unknown *anymail is incorrect.

 - When a reply-to message is sent from a POP3 client on one
AS/400 to a second POP3 client connected via SNA the mail
is never received by the second POP3 client.

A fix for this problem is available via the following:

Select CUSTOMER SUPPORT (it's a link to support.lotus.com)
     Select DOWNLOADS
Under Customer Support, select FTP SITE (select path as for
     FTP)

MIME Header Attachment from OfficeVision/400
--------------------------------------------
When the 'Display Internet message headers as attachments' is
enabled mail received from OfficeVision/400 will have the
MIMEHeader.txt attachment inserted just before the end of the
text.

Work Off-line enabled
---------------------
Mail in your Outbox will be sent to the AS/400 POP3 Mail
Server when you exit the cc:Mail for the Internet client even
though Work Off-line is enabled. Mail will remain in the
Outbox, as expected, as long as you don't exit the cc:Mail
client.

 Troubleshooting
 ===============

Unable to log on to the mail server or retrieve mail
 ----------------------------------------------------

 1. Verify that all required software is installed and at the
proper level. See System Requirements above.

 2. Verify that you can connect to the AS/400 via the AS/400
Connections screen using your cc:Mail/POP3 USER PROFILE.

Note the "Current User" and "Type" of connection that you
have active to the AS/400 (these will be needed for
trouble shooting). The "Current User" profile will
correspond to the POP3 account accessed on the AS/400.

These values are displayed by clicking the AS/400
   Connection Icon.

 3. Verify that the POP3 server is active. If it is not
configured or active, see below under System
    Administration Tasks.

   3.1 TCP/IP and/or IPX connections
        Enter the following command:
             NETSTAT *CNN
Verify that the as-pop3 is in listen state.
(Note: as-pop3 is used, not POP3).

3.2 SNA connections (Netsoft, twinax, SDLC, etc.)
        Enter the following command:
             WRKJOB QTPOSNA
Verify that you have at least one job of type PJ with
an "ACTIVE" status. (This is the pre-start job that
        SNA user's will attach to.)

If Microsoft SNA Server or Novell SAA is the
connection type, see Client Installation above for
        special considerations.
